Our Story

The Monkey Business is a home fabrics and wallpaper brand that brings together timeless color combinations and culturally inspired patterns rooted in rich artisanal heritage. By reinterpreting historical influences through a contemporary lens, the brand creates cohesive collections designed to transform interior spaces with depth and character.

Founded in 2024 by architect and interior designer May El Tabbakh —

who has been practicing across Egypt and the UK since 2002 —the

brand reflects a refined understanding of space, material, and cross- cultural design.

Each collection draws inspiration from a diverse range of international art and artists’ works. The creative process begins with an art workshop in London, where original prints and color stories are conceived. These ideas are then further developed in Egypt through a dedicated graphic design refinement phase, resulting in fully realized collections ready to be translated into coordinated home fabrics and wallpapers.

Production relies on the finest Egyptian threads and is carried out in some of the country’s most prestigious textile factories, ensuring a high level of craftsmanship and quality in every piece.

Since its launch, The Monkey Business has released three full collections, marking a growing and evolving design journey. The brand is currently represented by its physical store at Golf Central Mall, Palm Hills, 6th of October, where customers can experience the collections firsthand.
